OpenModelica is an open-source modeling and simulation environment designed for industrial and academic applications. It includes powerful tools such as OMEdit for graphical modeling and OMSimulator for co-simulation and model-exchange tasks. OpenModelica supports Modelica and FMI standards, making it a versatile choice for system simulation.

note Installation
The OpenModelica homepage provides detailed installation instructions. Multiple versions are available, but as of the latest release v1.24.3 (at the time of writing), not all OMSimulator updates are included. Therefore, it is recommended to install the nightly build version 1.25.0-dev for the latest features and improvements.

The examples in this tutorial were tested using OpenModelica-v1.25.0-dev which includes OMSimulator v2.1.3.
